Coupler Check is a free reference for Japanese N scale models from KATO and TOMIX. It answers one question: which coupler does my model use, and will it couple with my other cars?
What you can do here
- Look up a model by its KATO or TOMIX product number and see its standard coupler and the replacement parts listed for it.

Where the data comes from
Product details come from the manufacturers’ official product pages and parts listings. Vehicle pages show the date the data was last checked. When the official listing does not state a value and we have worked it out from other official information (for example, from the coupler parts listed for a model), the value is marked with † and explained in a footnote. We do not guess beyond that.
We have not tested every combination in person. Before you buy or modify anything, please confirm with the manufacturer’s instructions or your retailer.
Corrections
If you spot an error or a missing model, please let us know. We check every report against official sources.
